Registrations
.ec domain registrations are immediate.
Transfers
The .EC domain transfers are free and do not imply the renewal of the domain. This happens as long as there are more than 30 days to expiration, in case there are less than 30 days to expiration the price is the same as the renewal and the domain will be renewed once the transfer is completed.
In order to complete the transfer of .EC domains, you must request the authorization code (AuthCode) from your current Registrar. Once the transfer has started, an email will be sent to the Owner Contact to accept the transfer, it has to be done in less than 4 days.
Renewals
You can renew your .EC domain at any moment (at least 3 days before the expiration date), as long as the domain is active. This process can take between 1 and 2 days to complete.
Cancellations
It's possible to request a cancellation of your .EC domain, visit the support center to open a support ticket. Please note, cancelling a name does not provide a refund of any registration fees.
DNS modifications
DNS modification isn't immediate, please note they must propagate through the network, this process can take up to 6-12 hours to complete, once the Registry processes the requested change, this can take up to 6-7 days, until then the domain will still point to the previous DNS servers.
DNSSEC
We allow the usage of DNSSEC on .ec domains. Your domain can take advantage of this additional security layer that DNS servers that are compatible with this technology can provide.

To perform .EC domain owner changes you will need to open a ticket from your client area.
Permitted characters
- .ec domains permit characters from 'a' to 'z', numbers from '0' to '9' and hyphens '-'.
- A hyphen '-' is not permitted in the first or last position of the domain name.
- Two consecutive hyphens are not permitted in the 3rd and 4th position.
