DonDominio

Point domain to Wix.com

To use your website created on Wix.com at DonDominio, you need to follow these simple steps:

Register your domain:

You will need to register your domain, choose the name you wish to register, check if it is available, and complete the purchase. (Remember that you will have to wait for the domain to become active, which can take between 12 and 72 hours, depending on the domain extension).

You will need to associate the domain with the free plan "Redirection and parking" or any other paid plan (in case you want to use email, for example).

Here you'll find a brief guide with the steps to register a domain.

If you already have your own domain or have registered it:

Now that you have your domain, you will need to associate it with your website on Wix.com. To do this, you must edit the CNAME entries in the domain's DNS Zone by following these steps:

  1. Go to your client area -> Account -> Hosting and email.
  2. Now enter the domain by clicking on its name.
  3. Go to the "DNS Zone" tab.
  4. Look for the DNS Zone starting with "www.", to the right of it, you will see the three dots button, and you should select “Edit”.

  1. You must replace the "Host" text with your domain without the "www.", meaning if your domain was www.yourdomain.com, you should indicate "yourdomain.com" (without quotes) and click "Save".

  1. Finally, delete the ANAME entry from the DNS Zone (the first one), and once deleted, from the “+Create” button, create a new A record leaving the host blank and using Wix's IP: 216.139.213.144 (this IP can change over time, so we recommend contacting WIX to confirm it).

You have now changed the DNS Zone, you just need to inform Wix that we want to use the new domain for our website, you must do this from Wix.com, keep in mind that to use your own domain, you need to have the paid version of Wix.
