It's required for the domain holder and billing contact of .BR domains to reside or have presence in Brazil.
Technical requirements
.COM.BR domains require the DNS to be active on different subnets and to be authoritative for the domain at the time of registration.

Registrations
.BR domain registrations can take multiple days to be completed.
Transfers
To complete .COM.BR domain transfer, you'll need your current registrar to provide you the domain's AuthCode or EPP-Key to verify the ownership of the domain.
Transfers can take between 5 and 7 days to complete. Some registrars provide manual transfers allowing transfers to be completed on the same day, contact your current registrar to find out if they offer this service.

Renewals

It's possible to request a cancellation of your .COM.BR domain, visit the support center to open a support ticket. Please note, cancelling a name does not provide a refund of any registration fees.
DNS modifications
DNS modification isn't immediate, please note they must propagate through the network, this process can take up to 6-12 hours to complete, once the Registry processes the requested change, this can take up to 6-7 days, until then the domain will still point to the previous DNS servers.
Domain owner change
The owner change has to be made directly through Registro.br, a notarized letter of intent needs to also be included.

- A hyphen '-' is not permitted in the first or last position of the domain name.
