Point domain to server IP

To point to your own dedicated, virtual, or even local server from DonDominio, you need to follow these simple steps:

Register your domain:

You must register your domain, choose the name you want to register, check if it is available, and complete the purchase. (Remember that you will have to wait for the domain to become active, which can take between 12 and 72 hours, depending on the domain extension).

You will need to associate the free "Redirection and parking" plan or any other paid plan with the domain (in case you want to use email, for example).

Here you will find a brief guide with the steps to register a domain.

If you already have your own domain or have already registered it:

Now that you have a domain, you will need to associate it with your server's IP, for this, you must edit the CNAME and A records of the domain's DNS Zone, following these steps:

  1. Log in to your client area -> "Domains."

  2. Now enter the domain by clicking on its name.

  3. Go to the "DNS Zone" tab.

  4. Find the CNAME record in the DNS Zone that starts with "www.", on the right of this, you will see the “3 dots” button with the option to "Edit," click on it.

  5. You should replace the "Destination Host" text with your domain without the "www.", that is, if your domain were www.yourdomain.com, you should indicate "yourdomain.com" (without quotes) and click “Modify.”

Edit CNAME of www

  1. Finally, delete the ANAME record and create an A record pointing to your server's IP.
